Yeronga Community Centre has a wide range of activities and events we run together with the local community. Some of our current projects are listed below. A full list of activities can be found on the Community Plus+ Program page.
Free bread is available each day thanks to Brumby’s Moorooka and Le Campagne bakery at Greenslopes. Donations are gratefully appreciated and allow this program to be self-funded.
In 2015 we began a pilot program to increase and enhance socialisation and interaction in our senior community. The program includes a cooking program for our seniors who may not be eating as well as they should. Indoor bowls, trivia and games, old time music, games and dance to improve and enhance non strenuous physical activity, promote cognitive stimulation and having fun. This program enables seniors to interact with others in their community in a welcoming engaging environment at low cost. It is a weekly gathering for morning tea, conversation and activities from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Every Thursday morning from 9:30am-11:30am a craft activity is held. Past activities that the craft group members engaged in included running the craft stall at Yeronga State School Fete and participating in the 5000 Poppy Project for the ANZAC Day 100 Year anniversary. All levels of ability are welcomed and instruction is provided. There is no cost and morning tea is included.
