Yeronga Community Centre
The Yeronga Community Centre has been providing a helping hand to the local community since we opened our doors in September 2012.
Grown from the efforts of the Yeronga Flood Recovery Centre – a local community initiative that responded locally to the Brisbane Floods of 2011.
Now we continue that tradition by providing a friendly space for people to meet, use our facilities, create connections, learn new things and access support. Community Plus+ is committed to community development, which means our staff work with community members to provide activities and services that the local community values.
We offer a range of programs to create empowered and inclusive communities including:
- Information and support, referral and advocacy
- Art and craft activities
- Seniors program
- Computer and printing assistance
- Community breakfasts
- Social events
The brand-new Yeronga Community Centre will is now open for community members to connect, share, learn and support one another.
How did this new community centre come about?
The Yeronga Community Centre has been working with the local community since September 2012. Grown from the efforts of the Yeronga Flood Recovery Centre – a community initiative that responded locally to the Brisbane Floods of 2011. Since that time, the Yeronga Community Centre has operated from seven locations in Yeronga, with the Community Plus+ Management Committee investing a significate amount of time advocating for a permanent location.
A 2017 state government election commitment found a permanent location in the Yeronga Community Centre in the Yeronga Priority Development Area, now called Parkside Yeronga. Community Plus+ thanks Mark Bailey MP, Graham Perrett MP and Cr Nicole Johnston for their commitment to this new centre. Community Plus+ will continue to run all current activities and services in the new Yeronga Community Centre. Because we’ve been a key contributor to the design, there’s even a commercial kitchen for all the amazing meals Yeronga volunteers make from donated ingredients.Who’s been working with Community Plus+ to make this happen?

Our co-locaters
Community Plus+ is excited that both the Annerley–Stephens History Group and the All-Gauge Model Railway Club will be joining us at the Yeronga Community Centre. Our shared love of community and learning will make the the centre a great foundation for a thriving Parkside Yeronga precinct.
Annerley-Stephens History Group has been promoting an interest in the history of the Annerley Community for over a decade. The group researches and raises awareness of local history through their events and publications. The group is passionate about local history and engages the community through local history walks, community talks and local history conferences.
The All Gauge Model Railway Club provides a safe, inclusive environment for everyone who has an interest in this ‘old-school’ craft. People who are interested in model landscaping, railway modelling, mechanical or electrical engineering or who just enjoy the sights and sounds of model trains also appreciate the social benefits of this club.
